Huntington, WV Walk For Autism, 2010

One of my favorite Spring activities is the annual Walk for Autism, held at beautiful Ritter Park in Huntington, West Virginia. More than simply a fundraiser, this event is a family reunion of sorts.

Huntington has a very strong and very active autism community; we enjoy spending a Saturday together for a common cause.

There was a slight drizzle in the air, but the rain stayed away for the 5K event. My completion time was pretty slow . . .although I did lallygag behind to take a few pictures.

I'm sure that was the reason.

Several students and staff from Marshall University's College Program for Students with Asperger's Syndrome participated in the event.

We were thrilled to raise nearly $300 for the cause.

Here is the group taking a rest at the mid-way point, at Huntington's Veterans' Memorial Arch.

It was a good time for all.
